Mr. Deity Episode 2: Mr. Deity and the Really Big Favor

Mr. Deity seeks help to save mankind while Larry oversees construction efforts.

This one is very funny and shows the absurdity of the entire “God needs to sacrifice his only son for our sins” nonsense. Once I started really thinking about this as a teenager it didn’t make any sense to me at all. An all-powerful god creates everything, makes us imperfect, blames us for being imperfect, then has to sacrifice his only son to make up for this mess he (or she) created. Jesus thinks he’s being “punked” in this clip, when in truth it is all of the believers in religion that are currently being punked!

Mr. Deity Episode 1: Mr. Deity and the Evil

This apparently started at the beginning of the year, but I just discovered these very well-made and quite humorous Mr. Deity short clips. This first episode is described as:

After creating the universe, Mr. Deity and Larry decide what evil they’ll allow.

I think Larry is supposed to be the Holy Ghost or maybe some sort of lead angel that helps Mr. Deity. They discuss what sorts of evils will exist and show that there must have been some evil not allowed by suggesting that we can’t harm each other with mind powers. Funny! This is an interesting idea since religions claim there are all sorts of rules for goodness we need to follow and goodness was a construct defined by a god. Logically then evilness is a construct defined by god so everything that is awful in the universe was something this god decided to allow to exist or explicitly defined and created.
